Current Students

Congshuang DENG

Doctoral student

dengcsh@mail2.sysu.edu.cn

Congshuang DENG is working on fossil with inclusions of beetles and other organisms. She is studying the evolutionary taxonomy of fossil amber with beetles , with an emphasis on weevils and Bothrideridae. She plans to use this materials to predict the evolution and diversity of the wood-boring beetles.

Mengjie JIN

Doctoral student

Mengjie Jin is working on taxonomy of Cerambycidae in Australia. Cerambycidae, known as longhorn beetles, is a cosmopolitan family of Coleoptera, with over 20,000 species described. Research mainly focuses on phylogeny of this family, trying to evaluate its evolutionary processes in both morphology and molecular ways.

Meilan CHEN

Doctoral student

Meilan is graduated from the Northwest A & F University in June, 2015. In her postgraduate, she is working on explore the evolution of mitochondrial genomes across the Coccinellidae.

Khanzada Muhammad SIDDIQUE
Doctoral student
msiddique15@gmail.com

Khanzada Muhammad Siddique is working on optimization of artificial feed formulations and feeding effect for Orius sauteri, with an emphasis on Orius sauteri. He is now evaluating its evolutionary processes in its project making artificial diets microcapsule in introduced ranges, and testing its feeding effect on Orius sauteri. Research approaches include feeding stimulation function material, and the best selection, feeding stimulus material screening, technology of microcapsule artificial feed and evaluate the actual breeding for high feeding artificial feed microcapsules and molecular biology. He is also interesting in the evolution of food preferences in Orius sauteri.

Zhenhua LIU

Doctoral student

Zhenhua Liu is working on calssification of Dicranolaius (Coleoptera, Melyridae, Malachiinae) and some related genera, aiming to make a review of Dicranolaius. And some researchs about phylogeny of those genera are also in the plan.

Dan LIANG
Doctoral student
dan_liangcn@aliyun.com

Dan Liang graduated from Southwest Forestry University in 2015 who used to study breeding ecology of Fire-tailed Myzornis (Myzornis pyrrhoura) in the alpine environment of Gaoligong mountain, Yunnan. He is interested in nectarivorous birds such as sunbirds (Nectariniidae). Furthermore, he is planning to explore the impact of elevation gradient variation on close-related sunbirds' species speciation and niche adaptation in the Himalayan-Hengduan mountains. He is also interested in the avian behavior ecology, biodiversity, and conservation.
